Dr. Shelley Peacock Receives USSU Teaching Excellence Award

The College of Nursing is extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Shelley Peacock has been awarded the 2015-2016 USSU Teaching Excellence Award.

This award recognizes professors who demonstrate teaching excellence – by not only giving students access to knowledge, but also providing them with the tools in which to turn that knowledge into wisdom.

College of Nursing NURS202 students nominated Dr. Peacock for her enthusiasm, organization, and fairness of evaluation. "I am most humbled to be nominated by our students. It is an honour for me to be able to teach what I am passionate about and hopefully inspire students to be the best nurses they can be as they provide safe, competent care to the patients, families, and communities we have the privilege of working with," said Shelley.

Dr. Peacock has been an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing since 2011, and alongside teaching she is currently doing research funded by a Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation Establishment Grant to develop a self-administered writing tool for bereaved spousal caregivers to persons with dementia.

"Our students' experience is job number one – and to be recognized by one's students is a testimony to Shelley's dedication, patience, and inspiring professional persona in the classroom," said Beth Horsburgh interim dean of the College of Nursing.

Congratulations Shelley!
