Nursing Graduate Students Association
The Nursing Graduate Student Association (NGSA) was founded in 2023 as the University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) first nursing student-led graduate association. Our aim is to represent and support graduate nursing students at the University of Saskatchewan on and off campus.
Our goal is to foster a community of students through:
- Organizing professional development events, as well as social and networking events
- Offering academic and social support and advice
- Addressing student concerns with staff and faculty
- Improving collaboration and engagement between students, staff, and faculty
- Working with students, staff, and faculty to address issues
- Facilitating the improvement of the College of Nursing graduate program delivery and curriculum.
Who are the NGSA?
NGSA Executive team members are elected amongst their peers to represent them for the academic year.

Principal Chair: Jordan
Jordan is a third-year Master of Nursing (MN) Thesis student that also works as a harm reduction nurse with the Saskatchewan Health Authority! She focuses on research related to substance use, harm reduction, and health policy. Jordan is excited represent the NGSA on and off campus.

Sarah is currently in her second year of the nursing Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) program. Her goal is to research nursing students transition to practice at the bedside. In her NGSA role, Sarah is excited to support nursing graduate students! Sarah is also the interim Vice-Chair External Affairs.

Accessibility and Inclusion Chair: Aja
Aja (she/her or they/them pronouns) is a first-year student of the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) program and has been a registered nurse for over six years, working within forensic and reproductive/sexual health specialties. Her research interests are 2SLGBTQIA+ health, gender-based violence, as well as trauma- and violence-informed care and education integration, including immersive technologies.
In her spare time, Aja enjoys hiking and generally being in nature, sculpting, cuddling pets, and spending time with loved ones.
She is delighted to be the Accessibility and Inclusion Chair for NGSA and welcomes you to connect via email to hear your ideas, share insights and collaborate.

Anti-Racism Chair: Ewurabena
Ewurabena is a third-year Master of Nursing (MN) Thesis student that currently trains people to work with individuals with varying intellectual disabilities. Her passion and research interests focus on experiences of racism in nursing. Ewurabena is honored to meet, work with, and advocate for students who have experienced and or are interested in anti-racism.

Alumni Chair: Catherine
Catherine is a second-year MN-Nurse Practitioner (NP) student and has extensive volunteer and community engagement experience. Catherine is eager to advocate for the interests of nursing graduate students. Catherine is also the interim MN-NP Representative.

How can I join?
NGSA members consist of all currently enrolled graduate students within USask College of Nursing including:
- Master of Nursing students in the Professional Practice, Thesis, and Nurse Practitioner Studies programs
- Master students in Interdisciplinary Studies
- Post-graduate certificate and diploma students within the College of Nursing
- Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing students, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Post-Doctoral scholars with nursing supervisors
The call remains open for the following positions:
- Class Representatives for the PhD, MN-NP, and MN-PP cohorts.
- Members for Vice-Chair External Affairs, International Chair, and Métis, First Nations and Inuit Chair.
When does the NGSA meet?
- Monthly meetings: Last Friday of the month, 2pm CST.
