Message from the President

Hello Everyone!

We are Teri and Dan, and we are thrilled to be your SNSA - Saskatoon co-presidents for the 2018-2019 year, and we’re proud to be working alongside some extremely talented and driven individuals within our student council!

As nursing students and future nurses, our roots are firmly planted in service to others - individuals, groups and communities. We are extremely passionate about providing care and comfort to those who are in need. We also recognize how volunteering plays a vital role in strengthening our society by acting as a bridge between socioeconomic divides.

In the upcoming year, we look forward to continuing many of the great initiatives started in previous years as well as starting a few new ones.

Some events we plan on taking part in throughout the year:

  • Home for Dinner at the Ronald McDonald House
  • Adopt a Family
  • Student Lead Mentor and Mentee Program
  • Student Support and Wellness Committee (SSWC)
  • M-OSCE
  • Our annual winter formal
  • A traditional style party with the College of Engineering
  • and much more…

This year the SNSA has already started two new initiatives so far: The Student Lead Mentor and Mentee Program, and the Student Support and Wellness Committee (SSWC). Past-president, Aliya Ameen, started the Student Lead Mentor and Mentee program to encourage the building of relationships between second, third, & fourth-year nursing students. This initiative not only aims to provide support and guidance to new students through their nursing school experience but also to promote leadership, mentorship, and professional communication skills that will help prepare students to enter the clinical field after academia. The SSWC’s role is to provide support, advocacy, and resources for students when they are in need. Their role also includes seeking and promoting student wellness initiatives and activities to the students.

Our student council is excited to make a difference on our campus, in our city, and in our province. If you’re a student, faculty or staff within our college, or anyone else wanting to know more about us, feel free to reach out to us at anytime!
