Saskatchewan Nursing Student Association (SNSA) – Regina and Yorkton

Message from the President

The Saskatchewan Nursing Student Association – Regina and Yorkton (SNSA(R-Y)) is a student-led group that is currently made up of students at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing – Regina Campus and we are currently looking for participants from the College of Nursing – Yorkton Site. The members represent the student body, as they strive to embody all nursing values including leadership, advocacy, and support of our students and local community.

Established in 2013, the SNSA (R-Y) aims to use a team approach to organize events and activities that contribute to school spirit and student success. The board loves to plan ‘Lunch and Learns’ for students before exams as well as ‘What to Expect’ sessions put on for upcoming clinical rotations. We strive to support our peers and help foster a positive working environment. The SNSA (R-Y) also plans mock OSCEs that facilitate the simulation and feedback of a structured OSCE, to help students prepare. Lastly, we plan enjoyable events throughout the year such as potlucks, movie nights, scavenger hunts and so much more. Our goal with these events is to establish and contribute to school spirit and peer relationships, as well as decreasing the amount of stress and anxiety that can come from nursing school.

As a council, we look forward to being an example of developing and promoting effective leadership, encouraging inclusive student community engagement, creating collaboration with other campuses, and strengthening a learning setting that embodies respect, initiative, and pride. As the council understands the importance of giving back and being involved within the community, we have made it a main goal of ours this year to encourage student participation in community events to help establish meaningful relationships and demonstrate the core values of nursing.

As a council we look forward to the opportunity of building meaningful relationships between the students, staff, faculty, and community. It is our goal to contribute to a successful year of growth, learning, and making a difference in our community! – Kaitlyn Hall, SNSA (R-Y) 2023/34 President
