Saskatchewan Nursing Student Association of Prince Albert and the North

Message from the President

The Saskatchewan Nursing Association of Prince Albert and the North (SNSA-PAN) was created in 2015 by a group of determined 2nd year nursing students. The group of nursing students that became the first executive were very motivated and their hard work paid off when SNSA-PAN became ratified as a University of Saskatchewan Student's Union (USSU) student group and a chapter member of the Canadian Nursing Student Association (CNSA).

Since its creation, the group has arranged various fundraisers including pizza sales, steak nights, discount card sales and student clothing sales. SNSA-PAN also hosted fun family events, such as bowling nights. As well, the group has participated in community events like the Prince Albert Downtown Improvement Christmas Parade and fundraising for The Coldest Night of the Year. SNSA-PAN members have shown leadership and mentorship in their campuses by hosting mock objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and organizing speed nursing events with the College of Nursing.

Being part of the SNSA-PAN has given me the opportunity to be involved in the College of Nursing, as well as the community, in more ways than I expected. The members are a very supportive group and being part of the SNSA-PAN had a positive impact on my first year in the College of Nursing at the Prince Albert Campus. I gained confidence and familiarity in the college, which I believe has bettered me as a student. This positive experience is something I hope SNSA-PAN can pass on to new students throughout the coming years.

Although 2017-2018 will be my first year in the leadership position, I have the support of the current members, as well as the previous members, to ensure a successful year full of events on campus and in the community. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization and am looking forward to the coming year.
