Four Huskie Athletes from the College of Nursing honoured for their academic achievements.

The College of Nursing would like to congratulate four of our students who were recently honoured by Huskie Athletics for more than what they contribute to their sport, but for their academic achievements.

  • * The U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian team were U SPORTS athletes who had at least an 80 per cent average on a minimum of 18 credit units. These athletes used eligibility last year.
  • ** The Huskie Athletics All-Academic First Team includes student athletes, managers and trainers who have obtained a sessional average of at least 80 per cent on a minimum course load of 24 credit units.
  • *** The Huskie Athletics All-Academic Second Team consists of student athletes, managers and trainers who have obtained a sessional average of at least 75 per cent on a minimum course load of 24 credit units.

"Achieving success in academics is difficult enough with the demands of each class," said Huskies' Chief Athletics Officer Dave Hardy. "Being able to balance class time, studying, exams, papers, lab reports and all other assignments takes a great deal of organization and balance in life. Add in the demands of the competitive athletic season, and it makes the academic achievements of these student athletes even more impressive."

Academic Advisor Trudy Unger works with College of Nursing students who participate in Huskie Athletics. “The nursing workload is heavy and clinical hours must be achieved. I really enjoy working with the student athletes to find a way to make both nursing education and athletics work together. The students work hard to balance both. Congratulations to Bailee, Brynn, Alexandra and Elizabeth – this honour is well-deserved.”
