Laval University Recognizes Professor Louise Racine as an Influential Graduate

College of Nursing professor Louise Racine has been unanimously selected as an ‘Influential Graduate’ of Laval University (Université Laval).

This prestigious honor is bestowed by the Association of Graduates of Laval University (ADUL) to graduates who have excelled in their careers and social commitment. Racine is one of only 115 graduates newly identified as influential graduates this year.

Racine was born and raised in beautiful Quebec City, QC, Canada. She entered the nursing profession in 1978 as a Registered Nurse (RN) receiving her RN diploma from the Cégep de Sainte-Foy and a Certificate in Health Administration from the Université de Montréal in 1991. She received her BScN (1994) and MScN (1996) from the Faculté des sciences infirmières de l'Université Laval. In 2004, she received her PhD in nursing from the University of British Columbia. She has practiced more than 14 years in general surgery, ENT, head and neck surgery, urology and gynecology.

“This is a great honour to have been selected as an alumna of excellence by the Association of Graduates of Laval University (ADUL) and my alma mater,” said Racine.  “Recognition of my pioneer work in immigrant and refugee health, as well as my contributions to the profession and discipline of nursing both nationally and internationally, means a lot to me. I very much appreciate this recognition as Laval University is a world class university and a member of the select U15 club in Canada.”

Laval University is the oldest center of education in Canada (second oldest in North America), and was the first institution in North America to offer higher education in French. Its main campus is located in Quebec City.
