College of Nursing Student Publishes Article in University of Saskatchewan Undergraduate Research Journal (USUJR)

The College is delighted to announce that fourth year BSN student Brooklyn Nemetchek will have an article titled, "Aspirin for the Prevention of Myocardial Infarction: An Evidence-Based Clinical Inquiry" published in Volume 2, Issue 2 of the USURJ.

A reception to celebrate the publication was held on April 4 at the Murray Library, University of Saskatchewan (U of S).

USURJ is an online, peer-reviewed scholarly journal featuring original work by U of S undergraduate students. Founded by U of S undergraduate students, the journal celebrates undergraduate contributions to research.

Brooklyn's article evaluates the evidence to determine whether low dose aspirin (81mg) for primary prevention in patients aged 50 to 65 with no history of cardiovascular disease decreases the incidence of myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a 'heart attack'.

"Having this article published is such a blessing and I thank the Lord for this opportunity. It demonstrates the huge span of nursing - how we can influence patients not only through direct care on an individual and personal basis, but also through research and supporting evidence-based practice," said Brooklyn Nemetchek, College of Nursing student.

The full article is available online at USURJ. Congratulations on your publication Brooklyn!!
