Dr. Louise Racine Receives SRNA Award

College of Nursing faculty are researchers who are recognized provincially, nationally and internationally for the important work they do to ensure all people receive the highest quality of care.

We are extremely pleased to announce Dr. Louise Racine was recognized by the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA) at their annual award banquet held May 6th for her excellence in research.

The Effie Feeny Award for Excellence in Nursing Research is given to a Registered Nurse or group of Registered Nurses who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of nursing or health related research that enhances the nursing profession. Racine was nominated for this award by College of Nursing colleagues Drs. Sonia Udod and Angela Bowen.

“Without a doubt, Dr. Racine is one of the best researchers I have had the privilege of knowing and working with,” said Udod. “She is a person of great intellect, dedication and a hard worker, who has and will continue to make significant contributions to nursing and health care in this province. The nursing profession in Saskatchewan is fortunate to have such an intellectual and innovative thinker to meet the ongoing health care needs of the citizens of this province, and indeed nationally and internationally. She is an outstanding researcher and I truly value her passion and dedication to quality research and to advancing the discipline of nursing.”

“I am interested in researching issues connected to culture, social justice, globalization and migration and how these factors shape nursing and health care delivery in Saskatchewan and beyond,” said Dr. Racine. “I am fortunate to have received funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation to allow me to do the research I love. I am honoured to have received this award.”
