Thom Barker from Yorkton This Week receives the 2014 Extending Our Reach media award

The College of Nursing Presents the 2014 Extending Our Reach Media Award

The College of Nursing recognizes the media as an important partner to help us spread our message and extend our reach.

We know media outlets are overwhelmed with news stories every day and they have to make tough decisions about what stories to cover. When the College of Nursing receives media coverage, it's an honour. It means we have been recognized as making a difference in the communities where we are located.

The Extending Our Reach media award is an opportunity for the College of Nursing to acknowledge and say thank you to a media partner who has gone above and beyond to provide a positive profile for the College of Nursing. On October 2nd, Communications Officer Kylie Kelso presented the 2014 Extending Our Reach media award to Thom Barker and Yorkton This Week. When the College of Nursing, Parkland College and Sunrise Health Region made the official announcement on January 27th that the partners had entered into an agreement to deliver the U of S Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Yorkton beginning September 2014, it was an exciting day. Thom worked hard to interview the appropriate individuals, gather the relevant details and prepare a wonderful story following the event. The College of Nursing thanks Thom for the time he took to attend this event and the effort he put forth to prepare the story, as well as the others he has worked on for Parkland College and Sunrise Health Region over the past year.
