Saskatoon Nursing Students Participate in Unique Knowledge Sharing Event
We've all heard of speed dating, but speed nursing is what took place on November 22nd in Saskatoon.
This innovative College of Nursing annual event connects nursing alumni and students in a very cool way. This one of a kind knowledge sharing approach involves alumni sharing their expertise with current nursing students eager to learn about nursing first hand in short 8 minute intervals.
Here's the scenario: nursing students choose topics they are interested in, sit at the respective alumni table, ask questions, a bell rings and they move to the next. Topics covered in the evening range from forensic nursing to bullying in the workplace; from professionalism to the SRNA and rural health to ask the Dean anything! "This fast, informative evening is enjoyed by nursing alumni, who look forward to sharing their knowledge with future nurses and current students who find the experience invaluable," said Anna Pacik, Development Officer in the College of Nursing.
When asked about the event, 3rd year nursing student and Saskatoon Nursing Student Association President, Penny Sinclair said, "what an amazing and incredible night at speed nursing! So much information with such passionate nurses! I definitely plan on attending this wonderful evening next year!"
This was the second year the College of Nursing hosted the event in Saskatoon. The college will also be hosting speed nursing events at their campuses in Regina and Prince Albert in the coming months.
