Technology for Students
Computer Requirements
The nursing program makes extensive use of online and electronic resources. Students will be required to have regular access to a current model (3 years old or less) computer and a reliable high speed internet connection in order to be successful in the program. This requirement can be fulfilled in a variety of ways (e.g. purchasing a personal laptop, using an existing family desktop, accessing common computer labs, etc.).
It is strongly recommended students consider purchasing their own computer system or laptop to help ensure dependable access is maintained throughout the program.
It is recommended that students purchase either a Microsoft Windows or Apple computer. Chromebooks and iOS devices (iPad) will not be able to load all software required for the Nursing program.
The University has provided recommendations for purchases here.
Microsoft Office
The College of Nursing is a Microsoft Windows computing environment. Students are not required to have a Windows based computer; however, they are encouraged to obtain the Microsoft Office bundle for Windows or Mac. The Microsoft Student Advantage program at USask allows nursing students to download and install the latest Microsoft Office software on up to five computers at no cost. This includes full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other titles.
Information on installing Microsoft Office is available here.
