USask Nursing Ambassadors
Who are the USask Nursing Ambassadors?
University of Saskatchewan (USask) Nursing Ambassadors are champions of USask College of Nursing. Undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, staff, preceptors, and contract instructors share their stories as members of the USask Nursing community across the globe.
Why become a USask Nursing Ambassador?

Our ambassadors are members of the USask Nursing community sharing their authentic experiences. Whether they are current students, faculty, staff, preceptors, contract instructors or alumni, each ambassador’s story gives insight into what it is like to be a part of USask College of Nursing.
Being a USask Nursing Ambassador may allow for skill development in the following areas:
- Content creation for social media
- Public speaking
- Media training
- Mentorship
Become a USask Nursing Ambassador
If you are a member of the USask Nursing community, you may be eligible to become a USask Nursing Ambassador.
- Must be a current USask Nursing undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
- Must have completed an undergraduate or graduate program at USask College of Nursing.
- Must be currently in good standing with your jurisdiction of licensure and/or retired.
- Must be a current contract clinical instructor, contract lab instructor, or preceptor for USask College of Nursing.
- Must be a current employee of USask College of Nursing.
Earning Ambassador Points
Each Ambassador opportunity has been allotted an amount of points equal to the amount of time/effort that goes into the task. The Ambassador award points are cumulative over a period of April 1st – March 31st and based on a tier system. Ambassador award recognition is distributed annually at the start of April.

** For the “Attending Career Fairs/Events” opportunity, you will be paid for your travel expenses if you go 25+ km outside of your current place of residence.
Ambassador Opportunities
There are many opportunities to volunteer as a USask Nursing Ambassador; tailor your time as an Ambassador based on your abilities and skills by volunteering for the opportunities right for you. For every task completed, earn points towards an Ambassador reward.
Attention student ambassadors!
While a number of USask Nursing Ambassador opportunities can be completed at any time, it is important to note, students cannot miss a clinical or class time to participate in ambassador activities. You can only participate in a photo or video shoot, media interview, career fair, event, Open House, etc., if the dates/times do not overlap with clinical hours or scheduled class time.
Submitting Student Photos: 5 points*
- Submit a photo of USask Nursing students after their clinical rotation, community placement, during a class, at an event, etc.
- Before submitting a photo, please visit the USask Nursing Social Media Guidelines and review the clinical photo submission section to ensure your photo meets all requirements.
- While we encourage you to send in as many photos as you can/ like, please *note you will be accredited 5 points annually for only the first submission of a clinical photo, not 5 points per photo submitted. Only photos that meet the Social Media Guidelines will be shared and counted toward your point accumulation.
“Welcome” Video: 5 points
- Help welcome the newest cohorts of USask College of Nursing undergraduate and graduate students.
- Submit a short video clip saying one of the following:
- “Welcome”
- “Welcome to USask College of Nursing”
- Optional: submit a video clip welcoming the students with a message of well wishes
- These clips will be compiled into a large video and shared at orientations.
Feed Feature: 10 points
- A short story to be posted on social media sharing your experience as a nursing student/alumni/researcher, etc.
- Send 1 - 5 photos that give a visual representation of your story (you as a student, working, participating in extra curriculars, etc.).
- Some feed features may be replicated for news stories, advertisements, etc.
- Questions will be provided to guide your responses.
- Example questions:
- Why did you decide to study with USask Nursing?
- Why did you decide to become a nurse?
- If you had one piece of advice to give someone who wants to apply to USask Nursing, what would you tell them?
- What is your favourite memory as a student?
- What do you like most about your research?
Radio Advertising: 10 points
- Be the voice of our next radio ad! Work with the College of Nursing Marketing and Communications team to write a script and voice a 30 second ad.
Don’t worry – we do the writing! - Tell the audience about your experience as a nursing student, your research, what it’s like to be a nurse, etc.
- Ads run in communities across Saskatchewan and can be recorded over the phone.
Media Interviews: 10 points
- Reporters often contact the College of Nursing looking for someone to provide expert commentary on a particular topic.
- We keep a list of research areas of interest, student leaders, and alumni ambassadors to turn to as experts when contacted for an interview.
- Submit your name for consideration and we will provide additional information.
Nursing Position Spotlight: 15 points
- Prospective students want to know career opportunities for nurses. Many students may not know of anything in nursing, other than clinical practice!
- By sharing insight into where you work - at the bedside, as a researcher, in the classroom, or at a community facility, etc., you can share your story and influence prospective students, maybe even some who have never considered nursing, to join the profession.
- These spotlights can be either “day in the life” video format or social media feed features.
All Paths Lead to Nursing Video: 15 points
- Submit a short video (under 3 minutes) with the following:
- Name
- USask Nursing connection (i.e. 3rd-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student from Yorkton, 2nd-year Master of Nursing - Thesis student, USask Nursing alumni, USask contract clinical instructor, etc.)
- Why you chose to attend/work at USask College of Nursing
Donor “Thank You” Video – Students: 15 points
- If you have received an award or bursary from USask College of Nursing, record a short thank you message to the generous donors behind your award.
- In the thank you video, include:
- Name
- Program and year of study
- Your location
- Why you are grateful to have received the award/bursary
- What you hope to do after you finish your program

BSN Student Harkaranveer Thanks Donors for SupportFeature Story* Limited Opportunity: 15 points
- A full-length story written about your experience in the USask Nursing community and featured on the USask College of Nursing website, shared on social media, and on occasion, used as an editorial.
- You will be asked to answer between 5 - 10 questions (bullet point answers), the story will be drafted and sent to you for review. A photo will be required.
*This is a limited opportunity. If you are chosen to do a story, the marketing and communications team will reach out to you directly.
Day in the Life Video: 20 points
- Send 10-12 (or more) 10 second video clips to use in a compilation “day in the life” video. With each video, a description about what’s happening will be required – you do not have to voice what you are doing. The video will be edited for you.
- The day in the life can feature any aspect of what your day is like as a USask Nursing community member – it does not need to be filmed while you are in a professional setting (i.e., during clinical, a shift at work, etc.).
- Before filming, please review the USask Nursing Social Media Guidelines. If you are filming in the workplace, please get written permission from all required parties before filming.
Attending Career Fairs/Events: 20 points
- Submit your name for consideration to attend career fairs, speak at events, volunteer at open houses, etc.
- Attend the event and help share first-person information about being part of the USask Nursing Community.
- Where travel is required, in some cases, travel expenses will be reimbursed. Please see Earning Ambassador Points for more information.
USask Nursing Brand Shoots – Students: 20 points
- Each year, USask College of Nursing organizes 2 - 4 photo/video shoots across Saskatchewan.
- If you are available to attend a photo/video shoot, you would spend a maximum of 4 hours with the USask Nursing Marketing and Communications team and a photographer/videographer to capture assets for marketing materials.
- The location of the shoots changes each year (excluding the graduate program photoshoot, which is held in Saskatoon). If you are interested in being a part of a shoot, but there is not one taking place in your location, please consider another Ambassador opportunity.
USask Nursing Brand Shoots – Supervisory Role: 20 points
- Each year, USask College of Nursing organizes 2 - 4 photo/video shoots across Saskatchewan.
- We are always looking for registered nurses (USask Nursing faculty, staff, contract clinical instructors) to be our nursing experts during these shoots. You will be asked to ensure staged nursing activities are appropriate and proper nursing protocol is being followed.
- The location of the shoots changes each year (excluding the graduate program photoshoot, which is held in Saskatoon). If you are interested in being a part of a shoot, but there is not one taking place in your location, please consider another Ambassador opportunity.
Speaking at USask Events: 30 points
- Submit your name for consideration to speak at USask Events (such as milestone celebrations, government events, etc.)
- As a guest speaker, you will be given a topic to speak about regarding your role in the USask Nursing community (student, alumni, faculty, etc.)
- If there is media at the event, you may be asked to speak to them. You will not get additional points for the media interview as it is already considered in the opportunity point total.
