Master of Nursing
Program Overview

The College of Nursing offers three programs leading to the Master of Nursing (MN) degree: Professional Practice, Thesis, and Nurse Practitioner.
Students in the Professional Practice or Thesis streams will learn to:
- Apply and critique nursing theory and research;
- Develop and evaluate strategies for advanced nursing practice;
- Demonstrate leadership to drive change.
Graduates are prepared for leadership, educator, and research roles, as well as doctoral studies. Information about tuitions and fees can be found on the admissions site.
Students are required to take 27 credit units of coursework, which are designed so students can complete them full-time in less than two calendar years. Restricted electives are determined based on the focus the student has chosen: Education or Leadership. Courses are delivered using a combination of live web conferenced seminars (synchronous) or online delivery (asynchronous) distance learning within North America. For information regarding technology requirements, visit the graduate program technology requirements page.
USask Master of Nursing Professional Practice Program
Thesis students are required to take 15 credit units of coursework, in addition to their thesis. Courses are designed so students can complete them in one calendar year and move forward to the thesis portion of the degree program. Courses are delivered online where most classes do not have a set class time and work is completed on students own schedule, within the parameters of course timelines. For information regarding technology requirements, visit the graduate program technology requirements page.
