Overview
Recruitment of Standardized Patients for Prince Albert and Distributed Sites

The College of Nursing is seeking individuals to act as standardized patients (SPs) for the bedside assessment exams (also known as OSCE). Assessments involve basic (non-invasive) head-to-toe vital signs and a series of questions for second year students to demonstrate fundamental physical assessment skills in a simulated setting.
- December 2 & December 5, 2025
- Prince Albert and all distributed sites
- Starting at 08:30; end time varies
Requirements
- Depending on the station, standardized patients may be required to wear shorts and a tank top. Patient gowns will be provided.
- Nursing students in their third or fourth year of study are encouraged to participate, but must ensure no academic or clinical conflicts will result.
Compensation
Student volunteers will receive USask Nursing Ambassador program points for their time participating in the OSCE and OSCE-R. Please refer to the ambassador information page for information about earning ambassador points for participating as a standardized patient.
You MUST sign up as a standardized patient in the site-specific links below AND submit the ambassador program intake form indicating interest as a standardized patient.
External volunteers will receive an honorarium recognizing their contribution to program success, as they are not eligible to participate in the ambassador program.
Interested in Becoming a Standardized Patient?
Spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, students in good academic standing will be given priority. If you are selected, we will contact you to confirm availability. If you do not hear back, we appreciate your interest and encourage you to sign up for the next OSCE session.
