Emergency Fund for Indigenous Students​

Fund Purpose:

To help Indigenous students in the Nurse Practitioner program and undergraduate Indigenous students in the College of Nursing through an unexpected, temporary financial hardship. By definition, a student's experiences are considered unexpected if the student did not know that the situation was coming and could not have planned for it.

Emergency funding is not intended to cover overdue fees and debts from other University departments (e.g., tuition, student fees, residence fees, library fees, etc.).

Gui​delines:  

  • Open to full or part-time Indigenous students in the Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Saskatchewan.
  • Open to Indigenous undergraduate students in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan.
  • Preference will be given to students in good academic standing with the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan.
  • Preference will be given to those who are Saskatchewan residents or employed in Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan.
  • Monies from this program will be paid to eligible students in the form of a non-repayable grant.
  • Students must demonstrate that financial resources are becoming available to support completion of their program.
  • Students must have used all available assets and resources to support their education prior to application for emergency funding.

Awards Available: Students are only eligible to access funding from the Emergency Fund for Indigenous Students once. A maximum amount of $1500 per student can be awarded. The College reserves the right to vary the award amounts based on special circumstances, the number of requests, and funds available.
