Assistant Dean Student Support Appointment

College of Nursing appoints Dr. Tania Kristoff as assistant dean student support.

The University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing announces the appointment of Dr. Tania Kristoff (PhD), in the newly created assistant dean student support position.

Dr. Kristoff brings a wealth of experience in nursing education and leadership.

She has been teaching at the College of Nursing since 2016 and previously held the role of undergraduate academic lead.

Her teaching philosophy is grounded in respect, relationship-building, and reciprocity, and her research interests span simulation-based learning, cultural humility, and supporting Indigenous student success.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Kristoff step into this position of leadership in our undergraduate program,” said Dr. Solina Richter (DCur), dean of the College of Nursing.

“Her experience within the college, combined with her teaching values of creating safe learning environments, will help in fostering a space where everyone feels valued and welcomed in our college.”

Dr. Kristoff earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Regina in 1998. She completed a Master of Nursing at USask in 2005 and, most recently, achieved her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from USask in 2020.

Her dedication to nursing education was most notably recognized in 2024 when she was the College of Nursing recipient of the 2024 USask Provost's College Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Dr. Kristoff began her nursing career at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, later serving the community at One Arrow First Nation. Her professional journey reflects a deep commitment to both clinical practice and education. Before joining the University of Saskatchewan, she taught as an assistant professor at First Nations University of Canada and taught within the Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan.

“I am honoured to step into this role and continue serving the College of Nursing student community,” said Dr. Kristoff.

“I look forward to working alongside faculty and staff to support students to feel safe and confident in their nursing education.”

Reporting to the associate dean academic, this role is dedicated to fostering positive, inclusive, and diverse learning environments, while providing comprehensive support for student well-being.

Dr. Kristoff will collaborate closely with faculty, advisors, contract instructors, students, and interprofessional partners across the province to address student concerns, mentor faculty, and enhance the overall quality of the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Kristoff on this appointment.
