College of Nursing

Biography

Tania Bergen has been a nurse for over 25 years, with most of her clinical practice in critical care. She has taught at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing since 2006, spending her time mentoring and coordinating in the clinical environment and lecturing med-surg courses.

Initially, her scholarly work looked at the quality of life in ICU survivors, with the goal of becoming a clinical nurse specialist. However, she found nursing education as the place where she could have the greatest influence on building capacity and improving the nursing profession.

Overall, Tania strives to be a positive, optimistic leader who aims to bring out the best in others, whether that is in her role teaching students, or in mentoring new and practicing instructors. Tania’s overarching goal of her philosophy is to influence others to achieve their best potential by creating a Brave Space
