Biography
Dr. Labrecque has been a registered nurse since 1986, completed her PhD in 2008 (USask) and an advanced practice NP program (Athabasca) in 2010. Her professional nursing practice experience includes acute care, addiction treatment, community and public health, occupational health and tertiary care in urban, rural, northern and arctic communities. She first joined the College of Nursing in a contract position (1997) teaching health assessment and community nursing in the undergraduate nursing, post degree and Post RN Programs. She is a tenured Assistant Professor, currently teaching and supervising students in the Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner and PhD programs. She has served the college in a number of capacities including the Director of the Nurse Practitioner program, Associate Dean Prince Albert and Northern Campuses and Associate Dean Academic.
Her research interests are focused on rural and remote nursing practice, advanced practice nursing and the delivery of primary health care that addresses the determinants of health of populations. She is a strong advocate for nurse practitioner practice and has been involved in numerous local, provincial, national and international committees with a focus on advanced practice nursing.
