Biography

Shani Serrao is currently serving as a full-time instructor at the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan (USask). With a deep passion for nursing, she also serves as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Departments at the Saskatchewan Health Authority in Saskatoon.

Shani's academic journey started at McMaster University, where she attained her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. Later, at the University of Saskatchewan, she earned her Master of Science, conducting clinical trial focused on lifestyle interventions in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Throughout her professional career, Shani has assumed diverse roles, from Nursing Unit Coordinator to floating across departments encompassing Medicine, Palliative Care, and the Medical-Surgical Float Pool. Each role has contributed to her wealth of experience, shaping her into the healthcare professional she is today.

When she's not working, Shani's hobbies include writing, travelling, catching live music shows, playing board games, and using these hobbies to bring people of all walks of life together to form genuine connections.

Shani has many areas that she is passionate about including women’s health, social justice, health equity, mental health and mental health literacy, and harm reduction.
