Biography

Heather Wolch is an Instructor with the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing who is a passionate about nursing and continuing education. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2002 and her graduate education in 2011 at the USask College of Nursing. Her nursing career has consisted of nursing in a variety of adult acute care settings, including critical care and the post anesthetic care unit.

Heather is a lifelong learner who supports students and adult learners in a variety of settings. As an instructor she supports and teaches students in clinical practice, labs, simulation and classroom settings. She maintains her practice as a Clinical Nurse Educator within the Saskatchewan Health Authority and is a strong advocate for managing acute and chronic pain, as well as ensuring current best practice is embedded in standards, policies and guidelines. Heather is devoted to building relationships and partnerships and values communication, which is the basis of every relationship.

Some of her fondest moments as an instructor are when students suddenly understand and link concepts together and can demonstrate their specific nursing skill set. It brings sheer joy as an instructor to see the excitement as students complete their program, specifically their final practicum and begin their nursing career. As students enter the workforce, they are transitioning from student to graduate to registered nurse and potentially colleagues. Seeing previous students working as registered nurses is always a rewarding and humbling experience.
