Seven-Year CASN Accreditation Reflects Excellence at USask College of Nursing

The highest-term accreditation recognizes the college’s enduring commitment to excellence in nursing education.

The University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing has achieved the highest standard of excellence in Canadian nursing education, earning a full seven-year accreditation from the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Accreditation Bureau.

This represents the highest accreditation term awarded by CASN.

Following a comprehensive in-person review conducted in May 2026, CASN granted the accreditation (September 2026-2033) to the College of Nursing, as well as its’ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Post-Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (PDBSN) undergraduate programs.

The thorough peer-review component done as part of the accreditation process evaluates educational units against national standards, ensuring the curriculum, faculty expertise, clinical instruction, and institutional resources appropriately prepare graduates for nursing practice.

"I am pleased to share the results of the recent accreditation review," said Dr. Solina Richter (DCur), dean of the College of Nursing.

"These results reflect the dedication, expertise, and commitment of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, contract teachers, preceptors, practice partners, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community collaborators across all College of Nursing campuses and sites in Saskatchewan."

The review highlighted the strengths of the college’s academic offerings, while also offering actionable items for development.

"The feedback gives us clear validation of our programming, while providing recommendations that will guide our ongoing curriculum refinement and ensure our students receive an exceptional educational experience," said Dr. Marnie Kramer (PhD), associate dean academic.

"I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the accreditation process," added Richter.

"This achievement belongs to our entire college community and reflects our commitment to preparing future registered nurses who will make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of the communities they serve."
