Celebrating National Nursing Week

College of Nursing Dean Dr. Solina Richter brings greetings for 2026 national nursing week.

The University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing wishes to recognize and celebrate the remarkable nurses and nursing profession.

Nurses play a critical role in healthcare and make a difference each and every day in Saskatchewan, Canada, and around the world.

2026 National Nursing Week is celebrated May 11 – 17.

Each year, the first day of National Nursing Week is named Indigenous Nurses Day, a day to highlight the extraordinary contributions of Indigenous nurses to Canada’s healthcare system.

National Nursing Week always coincides with May 12, International Nurses Day and the birthday of the founder of modern Nursing, Florence Nightingale.

The 2026 theme from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is The Power of Nurses to Transform Health.

From the CNA: This theme highlights the incredible impact nurses have in shaping healthcare, driving innovation, and advocating for patient-centred care.

USask College of Nursing Dean Dr. Solina Richter (DCur) encourages alumni, current students, faculty, and staff to take the time and celebrate this important week.
