Today is a day to celebrate.

For University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing graduates, today marks the end of their journey as a student and the start of new careers.

“Nursing education requires perseverance, commitment, and passion,” said College of Nursing dean Dr. Solina Richter (DCur).

“Our USask nursing graduates have worked incredibly hard to get here today.

The College of Nursing Class of 2023 includes 268 Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates, 17 students completing their Master of Nursing Professional Practice program, five Master of Nursing Thesis grads, and the largest doctoral completion in College of Nursing history with five Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) graduates.

(l to r) USask College of Nursing alumna Mary Ellen Walker (BSN’08, MN’13, PhD’21), Class of 2023 Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing spring graduate Solomon Kasha Mcharo (PhD’23), current PhD student Lindsey Vold (BSN’15, MN’17), and nursing alumna Samson Wakibi (MN’19).

“I am confident USask College of Nursing has prepared our graduates to be exceptional nurses,” said Richter.

“Regardless of where our students complete their program – whether it’s on the main campus in Saskatoon or across the country – their education will allow them to thrive in the nursing profession, no matter where they live or where they practice.”

Today these nursing grads are joining a proud group of over 11,000 USask College of Nursing alumni, 85 years strong.

“I encourage all our graduates to take today to pause and be proud of their personal accomplishments,” adds Richter.

“They have lots to be proud of!”

On behalf of everyone at the College of Nursing, congratulations to our Class of 2023 spring nursing graduates.
