BSN Student Justin Eisenkirch Inspires Audience at 2014 SRNA Annual Meeting and Conference

In a room full of future colleagues, fellow students, professors and mentors, second year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student Justin Eisenkirch delivered a flawless presentation at the 2014 Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA) Annual Meeting & Conference.

"Presenting at this conference in front of so many accomplished nursing professionals was a true honour," said Justin. "When I submitted my abstract to the SRNA, I was nervous, as this was my first time submitting an abstract to any professional call for submissions. When my abstract was chosen to be displayed as part of the poster presentation, I was thrilled, but later that week, I was then asked to present at the conference, to which I immediately accepted! When I found out I was the only student chosen, I was shocked, and I knew I had to put together something great!" His presentation titled "Mentorship: A Collaborative Approach to Inspire Quality in Patient Satisfaction" was praised by one attendee who said, "an amazing presentation by a future nurse leader".

"Upon finishing my presentation, my initial reaction was pure excitement and pride. As a nursing student, my dream is to one day be able to create meaningful change and I felt this incredible opportunity was a great stepping stone on my path to professional practice. I feel that mentorship is a very important topic in nursing right now, and this was a great opportunity to show not only nursing leaders, but my future cohorts the importance of mentorship. Being surrounded by so many strong nursing leaders was inspiring. If I become half as amazing as the Registered Nurses I was surrounded by at this conference, I know I have them to thank for their strong influence and encouragement."

This isn't the first time Justin stepped up to shine. In January, Eisenkirch presented a bid for the U of S Regina Campus to host the 2015 Canadian National Students' Association National Conference. But it doesn’t stop there; he was also named the 2015 (CNSA) National Conference Director. The conference entitled "Inspire Excellence-Promoting superior quality care, to unleash the full potential of everyone" will be held in Regina, SK in January 2015.
