Our Distributed Sites
The College of Nursing has created strategic partnerships in Saskatchewan to deliver distributed nursing education in a variety of communities across the province. Through the use of distributed learning technology* students in Île-à-la-Crosse, La Ronge, Lloydminster, Muenster, North Battleford, Swift Current, Weyburn, and Yorkton are able to learn where they live. The College of Nursing believes the pursuit of post-secondary education should not be disadvantaged by geography and as such, we use innovative technology to deliver our undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program in these locations.
*Technology connects USask nursing students at distributed sites with nursing faculty and online learning resources in a variety of ways.
- Lecture: Technology is used to connect nursing students at distributed sites in real time with faculty from across the province, as well as student peers from other sites. Delivery for theory courses include live video to students located in classrooms at each site, live video to students in locations of their choice (e.g., Zoom laptop), and self-paced online learning.
- Lab & Clinical: The hands-on learning of nursing education occurs in lab and clinical courses. Lab and clinical teaching are done in-person with an experienced registered nurse. Over half the student contact hours in the USask BSN program occur in lab/clinical settings.
